TOYS AND GAMES: Fanny Packs, Favorite Lyrics and National Anthem Singers
Observed while riding my bicycle along Bayshore Boulevard:
Five different women running behind baby carriages, four dolphins, a dude playing a guitar, two gentlemen sleeping in on benches, a large contingent of teenaged boys running in tandem, and, four runners/walkers wearing fanny packs.
Too early to surmise that fanny packs are back in fashion? Perhaps. Just don’t look to purchase one at Brooks Brothers or J. Crew any time soon.
I can’t decide which of these lyrics I like best.
Bobby Bare’s: “Drop kick me, Jesus through the goal post of life…”
Johnny Russell’s: “…rednecks, white socks and blue ribbon beer.”
Does anybody else get tired of singers performing the National Anthem at ballgames as though they are trying out for “American Idol”? In recent weeks I’ve witnessed several renditions that Benedict Arnold would have found offensive.
