TOYS AND GAMES: Put a Blow Dryer to Work

I’ve always wanted to borrow Patti’s blow dryer and take the thing to Bayshore Boulevard so I could aim it at passing cars. Imagine the reactions.Radar Gun

I recently asked one of Tampa’s finest about such a prospect. The officer, who was sitting on a motorcycle preparing to put a real radar gun to work, chuckled: “Might slow some of these cars down.”

Farewell to Wayne Rogers, a.k.a. “Trapper John” on TV’s M*A*S*H. He died Thursday at age 82.

I loved M*A*S*H for the duration of it’s 11-year run, but I liked the old ones best. McLean Stevenson played Lt. Colonel Henry Blake and Trapper lived with Hawkeye Pierce in “The Swamp”, where they swilled martinis and made Frank Burns’ life miserable.

A memorable Trapper line came when he answered a question with the following: “How should I know, I dropped out of school to become a doctor.”

I recently told my son, Kel, about one of my favorite stats in baseball history: Joe DiMaggio had 361 career home runs while striking out just 369 times.

Kel’s reaction: “Amazing!”

Yes, that one’s right up there with somebody getting a hit in 56 straight games.

Next time your spouse says, “Dammit I’m mad” shoot back, “Nice palindrome.”
