Bill, I like your blog, but I have to disagree with your take on Ben Affleck's latest movie, The Way Back. Though I haven't seen the picture yet, I don't intend to do so. Anybody who makes a movie like Daredevil doesn't deserve my attention. So, to quote Forrest Gump: "That's all I've got to say about that."

First Tim, anybody who quotes Forrest Gump is cool with me. As for Affleck, you're entitled to your opinion. I'll agree he's made some stinkers, but he's also made some of my favorites. As stated, I like The Way Back. Other Affleck movies I've enjoyed include Good Will Hunting, Argo, and Gone Girl. And any baseball fan surely loved The Town. How many times do you get to see Fenway Park get robbed? Normally "America's Ballpark" is robbing you, $11 a beer!

I'm a huge baseball fan. I love the Kansas City Royals. George Brett can do no wrong--a lifelong mantra established when I was a little girl. Anyway, I took your suggestion and read the Jim Bouton biography you reviewed (Bouton, The Life of a Baseball Original, Mitchell Nathanson). I found the book really entertaining. Following your lead, I watched Battered Bastards of Baseball on NetFlix. Enjoyed that as well. I've got cabin fever--damn Covid! Can you suggest something else to read or watch?

My favorite book of 2020 is The Guest List, by Lucy Foley. My favorite book of 2019 was Where the Crawdads Sing, by Delia Owens. And, since you're a baseball fan, you might enjoy (shameless plug for my novel) The Streak . My TV choices include a steady stream of Two and a Half Men (only with Charlie) reruns, Beat Bobby Flay, and Jeopardy. That's all I got.

Nice article (on Darren Waller). Always good to see good stories on addiction/recovery for professional athletes as well as regular folk! Thanks for sharing!

Joe, thanks for the comment. One thing I try to keep in mind. Even if an addict has been clean for years, he or she still fights daily to maintain their resistance. I'm sure that has to be a struggle, and a mental grind.

Thanks for the questions and comments. Let's stay in touch. To contact me.

I invite you to read more of my blogs, download free chapters from my books: Peachtree Corvette Club, The Streak and Retrouvailles.
